Kids Voting

Kids Voting is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that is dedicated to educating students about the importance of being informed voters. School personnel work collaboratively with the Guilford County chapter of Kids Voting to implement various activities related to an election in schools across the district. Students then go to the polls with their parents on Election Day to cast votes on ballots that include the same candidates and issues that are on the adult ballots. Results from the students' voting are reported in the media along with results from adult voters. In the November 2000 election, over 26,000 Guilford County Schools students participated in Kids Voting. A comprehensive Kids Voting curriculum provides teachers with activities and lessons to use in their classrooms.
