All mascots, nicknames, and descriptors including drawings, symbols, or similar identifiers used by extracurricular clubs or sports teams or by curricular clubs, organizations, or activities shall assure respect for cultural differences, values, and attitudes of all peoples. The Guilford County Board of Education prohibits the use of any existing race, culture, or ethnic group as a mascot, nickname, descriptor, or similar identifier of any extracurricular sports team or club, curricular club, organization, or activity.

In compliance with federal laws, Guilford County Schools administers all educational programs, employment activities and admissions without discrimination because of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, color, age, military service, disability or gender, except where exemption is appropriate and allowed by law.
