Page High Women’s Tennis Team – 4A State Champions
The Board recognized the Page High School Women’s Tennis team as the 2005 State 4A Tennis Champions.
Ragsdale High Women’s Tennis Team – 3A State Champions
The Board also recognized the Ragsdale High School Women’s Tennis team as the 2005 State 3A Tennis Champions.
North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee
Grimsley’s High School soccer coach Herk DeGraw was recognized by the Board for being selected for induction into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame.
North Carolina Music Educators Middle School Teacher of the Year
The Board also recognized David Dobbins, choral director at Southeast Middle School, as the recipient of the North Carolina Richard E. Keasler Teacher of the Year Award by the North Carolina Music Educators Association.
Board Chairman and Vice-Chairman Elections
The Board voted to re-elect Alan Duncan to the position of chairman and Amos Quick, III, to the vice-chairman position.

Staff Reports
Using the Arts
Dr. Peggy Thompson, chief academic officer, and Valerie Collins, chief curriculum and organizational development officer, presented the Board with an update on the district’s increase in arts participation.
School Improvement Plans for 2005-2006
Dr. Peggy Thompson, chief academic officer, presented to the Board the School Improvement Plans for 2005-08. The Board voted to submit these plans to the state Board of Education for approval.
Continued Discussion of Proposed Redistricting Plans
Eric Hoekstra, district demographer, led the Board in a continued discussion regarding the proposed redistricting plans.
